Convertible Colorwork Headband

How to Make a Convertible Colorwork Headband

After months of only making large projects like sweaters and dresses I decided to try making something smaller. The bright, cheery colors of Lion Brand Bonbons yarn inspired me to play around with colorwork!

I wanted to get the most the most mileage out of my little accessory so I decided to make it convertible. The bow is held on by a snap-band to make it detachable. It’s also reversible with different patterns on each side. This project was done with size 5 needles and I got the instructions for the Mock Honeycomb Stitch here. I used colors from the Party, Celebrate, and Brights color palettes but feel free to switch up the colors!

Finishing

Headband:

sew the headband into a circle. Cut a strip of fleece the same size as the headband and sew this into a circle. Use this fleece to line the headband.

Bow:

Sew the bow into a circle. With the circle laying flat. slip the tab into the middle of the circle so that there is an even amount sticking on either side. Loosely stitch down the center of the bow, being sure to sew through the tab as well. Pull the string tight to gather the bow and fasten off the yarn. Sew the bow closed on both sides. Sew snaps on either side of the tab.

Note: When you are ready to wear the bow, tie the tab on the side that you want to face out. Then wrap the rest of the tab to the back.
